The number of Pacific Islander Business owners is small compared to other minority groups. In addition, COVID-19 resulted in the closing down of Pacific Islander Smal Businesses throughout the San Francisco Bay Area. In addition, Pacific Islanders experience high rates of low-wage careers and poverty - 78.4% of Pacific Islanders in San Francisco work in minimum-wage jobs, and 11.4% of families live in poverty—rates much higher than the citywide average. Data reports show 41% homeownership rates for Pacific Islanders living in the Bay Area. This is significantly lower in comparison to other groups. In addition, we face lower education attainment than other minority groups. These disparities reflect systemic barriers not a lack of talent or work ethic.
Many of our Pacific Islander people have wonderful business ideas, yet face challenges trying to launch their business. It is our hope that through this effort, we will see more Pasefika Business Owners in the near future therefore bridging the gap in education and access to high earning opportunities.
Our Nesian Night Markets aim to offer safe, and affordable space for Pasefika Business Owners to connect with our community customer base. All our markets are family friendly.

Our NESIAN NIGHT MARKET - 2025 SUMMER SESSION - WAS A HUGE SUCCESS!
NESIAN NIGHT MARKET -
Samoan Solutions is dedicated to supporting Pasefika Businesses both near & far. We believe in creating accessible spaces for customers & our businesses to connect. In 2013, we opened our Start/Finish line to Pasefika Vendors at no charge. This was the perfect opportunity for people to shop for holiday gifts and more. In 2018, we started the hashtag - #ShopPasefika where we highlighted different Pasefika Businesses across the globe.
Having Le Maota, allowed us to extend our efforts in real life through our Nesian Night Markets. The goal was to offer affordable space for Pasefika Business Owners to sell their goods to the community. In June of 2023, we hosted our first Nesian Night Market. This first event hosted a total of 14 vendors who all either sold out, or did extremely well on sales. The Summer Season had a total of 4 sessions our last one being a 2 day - Friday/Saturday finale event. All 4 Night Markets were a huge success and well received by both our vendors & community. Our July Nesian Night Market, was also our Pasefika Boss Up program's community launch. Our Young Bosses, either launched or pitched their businesses.
